Senegal, IsDB Discuss Upscaling Economic Growth and Sustainable Development

Banjul, The Gambia, May 5, 2024 - On the sidelines of the OIC Summit in Banjul, IsDB President Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser held strategic talks with Senegalese President H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

During the talks, both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Senegal's economic framework and development cooperation with the IsDB. The discussions focused on key sectors crucial for Senegal's growth such as energy, transportation, vocational training and agriculture. Recognizing these sectors as the foundation of economic development, they agreed to strengthen them to fuel economic growth, create jobs, and ensure sustainable development.

The talks also emphasized the importance of integrating and linking development projects to maximize impacts across various sectors. Both leaders stressed the need for efficient project management, underscoring the importance of on-time and on-budget completion to maximize benefits for Senegalese citizens.

Dr. Al Jasser and President Faye also discussed aligning IsDB interventions with Senegal's new government's strategic investment priorities. This alignment ensures targeted development initiatives that effectively contribute to the national agenda, further strengthening project governance and execution.

President Bassirou Diomaye Faye expressed deep gratitude for IsDB's untiring support and highlighted his anticipation for a continued partnership that promises to propel Senegal towards greater economic achievements.
